Passionate educators making a difference
At Box Ed Australia, we’re more than just a program – we’re a team of educators and fitness enthusiasts with a passion for boxing and its benefits. Our founder, Lauren Thomson, a former teacher with over 13 years of experience, recognised the need for a unique approach to teaching discipline, technique, and wellness through non-contact boxing. This inspired the creation of Box Ed, a brand dedicated to empowering students in primary schools with the tools to build confidence, resilience and healthy habits.
Since then, we’ve taken our mission further, incorporating wellness and active wellbeing into the curriculum to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom. Our strong program has received great feedback from PE teachers and we’ve presented at conferences to spread the word about our vision for the future of education.
But we’re not just about talk – we put our ideas into action with our 4-week consecutive program, where we introduce a new concept of boxing each week and leave you with follow-up lessons to link boxing with a healthy lifestyle. Our program is perfect for students from grade 5 to year 9, and we’re also developing programs for other age groups.
Join our program and experience the fun and empowerment of boxing with Box Ed Australia. We’re excited to continue growing and making a positive impact on young people’s lives.
Why boxing?
Boxing is not just a sport, it's a powerful tool for teaching young people valuable skills that extend far beyond the ring. It challenges and empowers students of all ages and skill levels, promoting physical fitness, mental focus, discipline, and teamwork. Through non-contact boxing techniques, we help students build confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills, while fostering healthy habits that last a lifetime. So, if you're looking for a unique and effective way to engage your students, boxing with Box Ed is the perfect choice!
How can boxing improve mental health?
In addition to the obvious physical health benefits, boxing has been shown to have positive effects on mental health as well. Studies have found that regular boxing sessions can lead to elevated mood and increased alertness, which can help combat symptoms of anxiety and depression. Boxing can also be a great stress-reliever, providing a healthy outlet for negative emotions and tension. Beyond the individual benefits, boxing can also foster a sense of community and camaraderie among participants, creating a positive and supportive environment for young people to grow and develop. Overall, boxing is a great way to promote both physical and mental well-being in students, while also encouraging discipline, focus, and goal-setting.
How can boxing improve personal wellbeing?
Boxing has been proven to improve personal wellbeing in a multitude of ways, and one of the key components is breathwork. By learning to control your breath during boxing, you can calm yourself down and dramatically increase your endurance level. When boxing, it's important to take long, slow, deep breaths through the nose and exhale short bursts out of your mouth when striking. By incorporating breathwork into a fun and energizing activity like boxing, you can improve your focus, concentration, and overall sense of well-being. So, let's talk about breathing and how it can help you get the most out of your boxing sessions.
